Amazon.com Review
This set has the perfect assortment for outfitting a vacation rental property with all the kitchen accessories most vacationing cooks would require--and at a reasonable price. First, a stainless-steel utensil holder comes filled with nine essential stovetop utensils--a serving spoon, a slotted spoon, a skimmer, a spaghetti server, a soup ladle, a small slotted spatula, a large slotted spatula, a slotted turner, and a serving fork. All utensils are made of a durable plastic that is heat-safe up to 210 degrees Celsius and safe for use on nonstick and stainless-steel cookware surfaces. For baking, this kit packs a set of four stainless-steel graduated measuring cups in 1/4, -1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-cup sizes and stainless-steel measuring spoons in sizes of ¼-, ½-, and 1 teaspoon and 1 tablespoon. Finally, this kit includes a 20-piece knife set from Sabatier's Precision line of knives. The set includes an 8-inch chef's knife, an 8-inch bread knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch filleting knife, a 6-inch boning knife, a 6-inch cleaver, a 5-inch utility knife, a 3-1/2-inch parer, eight 5-1/2-inch steak knives, a 6-inch fork, kitchen shears, and a sharpening steel to keep edges honed. All pieces fit in the accompanying 19-slot wooden knife block.

Made in China, Precision knives are more affordable than some of Sabatier's other French-made knives; however, the same care is taken to ensure quality craftsmanship. The blades are made of high-carbon stainless steel that are hollow-ground for easier sharpening and edge retention. Full tangs provide excellent balance when cutting and are triple-riveted to the germ-resistant polymer handle. Handwashing is recommended for proper maintenance of the blade and a lifetime limited warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship. --Cristina Vaamonde

4 out of 5 stars Great Knives   February 24, 2009
Rafael (New Jersey)
Great knives for a regular user, definitely not chef quality. They hold up very well and do what I need to do. However if you are looking for high quality knives for some serious cutting, you might probably look somewhere else.

5 out of 5 stars Still in great shape!   March 14, 2008

Bought these as a Christmas present for my neighor. He still uses them on a daily basis and loves them. Bought them about 3 yrs ago too!

1 out of 5 stars Cheap Quality!!!   July 26, 2007

I bought this for $20 thinking what a great deal. How bad can they possibly be? Well the quality when opened looked great-sturdy strong, well constructed. Then I washed some of them, not finishing them all & leaving a few in the sink. Came back a few hours later & the ones in the sink that were wet were with RUSTED specks!!! I could not believe my eyes!!! I tried to wash off the rust with a brillo pad-Not successful. I also used a dishwasher for other ones & they got rusted specks in there as well. Poor quality steel or whatever they used in china!!!

2 out of 5 stars Knifes are garabge ....   April 12, 2006

I got this on Feb 2004 for $29.99 when i moved in to my new house. For that price, I won't complaint.
The best thing in this set is the scissor and utensil holder.
I threw out all the knifes after one year since they caused accidents since they weren't sharp.
Utensils are ok, won't last (last ~2 yrs), better than 99 cents store's one.

4 out of 5 stars Cheap set, however worth what i paid...   January 17, 2006

I'm a deal hound and I bought these when Amazon dropped the price to like $20. With that in mind they are a great set of knives not to mention all the other goodies that came with it. However as I'm sure other reviews have pointed out, you don't want to wash these in the dish washer or let them sit in water as they will rust. We've been careful with our set and except for a few rust marks they are doing fine and still cut just well. I simply can't find myself spending $200 on a set of knives that won't rust. The extra goodies were nice, though fairly cheap. The plastic wear is a bit flimsy and the measuring cups / spoons are thin, so watch your fingers on the edges.

Especially for what I paid at $20 it's a decent cheap set of knives and if you baby them they will last a few years. If you throw them in the dish washer or let them sit in a sink full of water, they will rust in no time and you'll end up with an empty wooden block.

4 out of 5 as they are obviously of lower quality, but are definitely worth what I paid for them and they will last if you take care of them and keep them away from continuous water contact.
